About Ali McDonald
Ali teaches publishing to writing students at the University of Toronto School for Continuing Studies and is living the dream of having a job she loves.
In her 10th year at Toronto literary agency The Rights Factory, Ali McDonald is the lead agent specializing in children’s literature.
She represents a select list of authors with projects ranging from novelty, board books, picture books, early readers, chapter books, and graphic novels, to middle grade, young adult and new adult fiction and non-fiction.
Ali enjoys working primarily with debut authors, but also has the distinguished pleasure of representing critically-acclaimed, award-winning, and bestselling authors among her international clients, including a New York Times bestseller and Hugo Award Winner:

How does this work?
You get two options:
Join in person: Hosted in Toronto at CSI Annex and limited to 10 writers, come prepared to read aloud your query letter draft. Ali and the group will provide you feedback in real-time.
- Join online: Participate in the workshop from the comfort of your home, anywhere in the world. You will get to ask questions by video chat or by typing them out, which Ali will answer during the workshop. Limited to 20 writers.
